The Colonnades at Reflection Bay leads Brazoria County nursing homes in size for Q1 2026

During the opening quarter of 2026, The Colonnades at Reflection Bay was recognized as Brazoria County’s largest nursing home, based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The facility reported 180 available beds, which is 64 above the county average for that period, and served an average of 144.8 residents.

The Colonnades at Reflection Bay received an overall CMS rating of 2 out of 5, trailing the Texas nursing home average of 2.7 for the same timeframe.

Oasis at Pearland ranked second in size in Brazoria County with 138 beds, while Country Village Care ranked third with 136 beds available.

As of the first quarter of 2026, The Colonnades at Reflection Bay had incurred $134,440 across six fines and was issued six penalties.

A total of 11 for-profit nursing home facilities operated in Brazoria County, Texas, during that time.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate that the country’s older population continues to expand while younger population segments are declining. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 and over increased by 13%, whereas those under 18 dropped by 1.7%. The nation’s older adult population has surged from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A study released in 2021 found that close to half of Americans in this age group—roughly 28 million—may need long-term services and support, and more than one-third are likely to require nursing home care eventually.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
