Zoooom

University of St. Thomas issued the following announcement.

UST’s Office of Innovation presents The Future is in your Heart and in Your Hands Annual Impact Investing Conference on Thursday, Nov. 19 from 9 – 11 a.m. CST, via Zoom. Make plans to hear the latest from Beth Collins, a leading authority on Impact Investing and Managing Director of Impact Investing for Catholic Relief Services.

“Impact investing is championed by Pope Francis, and is growing in popularity as an innovative financial solution to social and economic challenges the world over,” Dr. Beena George, UST’s Chief Innovation Officer, said. “Beyond human impact, its reputation for sustainability and profitability is catching the eye of today’s investors as a top-tier strategy.”

Listen to Collins’ unique perspective leading these efforts for one of the world’s largest humanitarian and development organization, and working closely with the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development. Collins will speak about how impact investing serves Pope Francis’ vision of “putting the economy at the service of the people.”

Collins will discuss how individual sector actors have return expectations that range from purely philanthropic to fully commercial. Providing specific examples, Collins will show how each actor has a role to play and is vital to achieving real impact. She will also reflect on the ways that the COVID pandemic and demands for racial justice are influencing the effort for inclusive, sustainable change.
