Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 to represent the state’s 11th Senate district, has used his social media platform to express his positions on immigration enforcement, criminal justice, and transgender medical procedures.
On May 14, 2026, Middleton stated: “Don’t cooperate with ICE deportations, you get removed from office. Failing to sign a 287g agreement with ICE is a violation of the ban on sanctuary cities. As AG I’ll fight to enforce Texas’s strong ban on sanctuary cities!” He emphasized his intent to uphold state laws against sanctuary city policies if elected Attorney General.
Later that same day, Middleton addressed concerns about local law enforcement and judicial officials. On May 14, 2026, he posted: “Let’s get it done. As AG I’ll fight to stop rogue George Soros-funded DAs, judges, and liberal cities who release violent criminals back into our communities. Lock em up!”
On May 15, 2026, Middleton commented on legislation regarding transgender surgeries for minors. He wrote: “Great work. I fought to ban ALL child transgender surgeries. Meanwhile Chip Roy authored an amendment to allow private transgender surgeries to continue and codify them, rewarding Gavin Newsom and the trans lobby.”
Middleton replaced Larry Taylor in the Texas State Senate after being elected in 2023. His recent statements align with ongoing debates within Texas over immigration policy enforcement and legislative measures related to gender-affirming care for minors.
