Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 to represent the state’s 11th Senate district, has recently shared his views on social and political issues through a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
On October 9, 2025, Middleton addressed the topic of prayer in schools, writing, “Prayer will bring light to our schools, why would some ISD’s be listening the dark to prevent student prayer? The ACLU and liberal taxpayer funded lobbyist groups opposing prayer are the same radical organization that lobbied for men in girls’ sports and showers. Prayer is not https://t.co/sSCxynz0pZ”.
The following day, October 10, 2025, he highlighted energy policy and conservative values in Texas: “America’s Energy Dominance and Liberty, I loved being out in Midland and speaking to Midland Republican Women. I’m so grateful for all Midland RW does for conservative values and ensuring Biblical values in government! I know firsthand the importance of Texas energy dominance https://t.co/GY4zVwGQu3”.
Later on October 10, Middleton commented on legislation regarding restroom access: “No men in women’s restrooms is common sense, the fact that democrats are debating this is why I passed the bill to protect women’s privacy. Texas is not bending to the left’s delusions. https://t.co/8EAg1E8crl”.
Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor as state senator for Texas’s 11th district after winning election in 2023. His recent statements reflect ongoing debates within Texas about school prayer policies, gender participation in sports and public facilities, as well as state energy policy—all topics that have generated significant discussion both statewide and nationally.
