Mayes Middleton, a Republican member of the Texas State Senate representing the 11th district since 2023, posted a series of messages on March 11, 2026, expressing gratitude to colleagues and law enforcement officials.
In a post from March 11, Middleton addressed Dr. Bonnen: “Thank you Dr. Bonnen. It’s an honor to serve with you, an actual brain surgeon. God has blessed you with many gifts and you’ve used them to serve others. I know you’ll continue to lead the fight in the Texas House to protect taxpayers.

Later that day, Middleton thanked Sheriff Hawthorne for his service in Chambers County: “Thank you Sheriff Hawthorne! I will always have law enforcement’s back. Thank you for serving Chambers County to keep Texans safe. https://t.co/wbRR3oKn5f” (March 11).

Middleton was elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 after replacing Larry Taylor as senator for District 11.
