Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 to represent the state’s 11th Senate district, has recently used his social media platform to express strong positions on immigration enforcement, local government policy, and electoral outcomes.
On August 16, 2025, Middleton stated his stance on immigration enforcement and sanctuary cities: “I have ZERO tolerance for any local elected official who limits ICE’s ability to enforce our laws against illegal immigration. As Attorney General, I’ll aggressively enforce our ban on sanctuary cities and sue to remove local officials blocking President Trump’s border security”.
The following day, August 17, Middleton criticized Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza and referenced political donor George Soros: “Travis Co. DA Jose Garza was elected with George Soros $ and is faithfully implementing Soros’ weak on crime policies that put criminals first and victims second. Garza is a rogue DA that needs to be removed from office.”
On August 18, Middleton commented on legislative efforts related to congressional redistricting: “I’ve been fighting every step of the way to pass President Trump’s Big Beautiful Map — and we’re going to get it done. Honored to vote to deliver FIVE new Republican seats and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor in representing Texas’s 11th Senate district after being elected in 2023.
