Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 to represent the state’s 11th Senate district, recently shared a series of posts on social media regarding religious displays and anti-abortion advocacy in Texas.
On January 17, 2026, Middleton commented on the installation of a religious monument in Tarrant County: “Yesterday Tarrant County unveiled a 10 Commandments monument by the Courthouse steps, all will see God’s law displayed proudly. I fought to get the 10 Commandments in every classroom and now Tarrant County has boldly led to display them at the seat of the largest Red county in”.
Later that same day, he addressed legal efforts supporting anti-abortion policies in Texas. In his post from January 17, 2026, Middleton wrote: “Thank you @jonathansaenzTX . Today we celebrated legal and lawmaking victories to make sure Texas is the most pro life state in America. Life begins at fertilization and I will always fight to protect and defend the unborn.”
In another message dated January 17, 2026, Middleton discussed opposition faced during the dedication event for the new monument: “Defeating the atheists in Tarrant County! Deranged protesters showed to the dedication of the 10 Commandments monument at the Tarrant County Courthouse yesterday. They lost, and Rockwall is the next county to put up a 10 Commandments monument.”
Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor as state senator for Texas’s 11th district after being elected in 2023.
