Mayes Middleton, a Republican state senator representing Texas’s 11th Senate district since 2023, has recently used his social media platform to comment on energy reliability during winter weather, express support for former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, and share an endorsement for his own candidacy as Texas Attorney General.
On January 26, 2026, Middleton commented on the performance of various energy sources during a cold night in Texas. He stated, “The reliability of natural gas and coal got Texans safely through the coldest night of the year. Wind was only generating 6MW of 40MW. The green new scam is an epic failure.”
Later that day, Middleton thanked former President Donald Trump for his actions regarding immigration policy. He wrote on January 26, 2026: “Thank you @realDonaldTrump for being the first President ever to take action (not just talk about it). We were flooded with convicted murderers and rapists under Biden. Deportation is what I voted for and exactly why I support Trump 100%.”
On January 27, 2026, Middleton shared a public endorsement from Hon. Matt Ticzkus regarding his qualifications to serve as Texas Attorney General. The statement read: “Mayes Middleton is a man of integrity, imminently qualified to serve Texas as Attorney General. In both the Texas House and Senate, Mayes has proven he’s a conservative fighter who will stand up for the values that matter to us. He has my full support.”
Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor in the Texas State Senate after being elected in 2023.
