Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 representing the 11th district, recently shared a series of posts on his social media account addressing local political endorsements, university event cancellations, and religious inclusion at public facilities.
On October 1, 2025, Middleton acknowledged the support of a prominent local official. He wrote, “Nueces County Judge Connie Scott has been a strong conservative leader in her community for decades — and was instrumental in flipping Nueces County from blue to red. I’m honored to have her endorsement!”
Later that day, Middleton criticized Texas Christian University (TCU) for canceling an event organized by Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a conservative student group. In his post dated October 1, 2025, he stated, “Disturbing — TCU is bending the knee to the left’s gender identity delusions and mental illness. TPUSA had planned an event to expose this woke insanity, but TCU cancelled it. EVERY SCHOOL IN TEXAS should be promoting TPUSA, not silencing them.”
On October 2, 2025, Middleton commented on an incident at Dallas Fort Worth airport involving religious services at an interfaith chapel. He posted, “We aren’t letting Texas turn into Dearborn, Michigan.  It’s outrageous that a Christian pastor was excluded from a Dallas Fort Worth airport interfaith chapel by an Imam-led Muslim prayer service.  I sent a legislative information request demanding answers from DFW airport.”
Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor as state senator after being elected in 2023.
