Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 to represent the state’s 11th Senate district, posted a series of statements on his social media account between April 6 and April 7, 2026. The posts addressed topics ranging from American identity to state policy and education.

On April 6, Middleton shared a brief statement: “American exceptionalism”.

Later that day, he commented on government spending with the post: “End taxpayer funded lobbying, it’s the USAID of Texas.”

On April 7, Middleton criticized certain advocacy groups and addressed concerns about educational content in Texas schools. He wrote: “The recent demands from CAIR-linked groups are outrageous. They are a direct, coordinated push for Islamic indoctrination in Texas classrooms.

The State Board of Education cannot give one inch today to the ilk of CAIR. No Islamic indoctrination. No compromises. Defend Texas.”

Middleton has represented Texas’s 11th Senate district since his election in 2023, succeeding Larry Taylor.
