Mayes Middleton, a Republican and Texas State Senator representing the 11th Senate district since 2023, recently shared a series of posts on his social media account addressing his activities in the Rio Grande Valley, his views on Columbus Day, and comments on recent international developments.
On October 12, 2025, Middleton described his visit to the lower Rio Grande Valley, stating, “Amazing day in the lower RGV, from McAllen to Brownsville, I met with and earned the support of students, business leaders, conservative grassroots activists, patriots and pastors. Most importantly, it was incredible being prayed over by so many faith leaders for the spiritual”.
The following day, October 13, 2025, Middleton addressed Columbus Day and criticized efforts to remove its recognition. He wrote, “Happy Columbus Day! The woke left wants to cancel Christopher Columbus — just like they try to cancel anyone who stands for faith, freedom, and America. Columbus was a Christian man of courage who changed history forever and the entire world is better off because of him.”
Later on October 13, Middleton commented on reports of hostages being released due to former President Trump’s actions. He stated, “Twenty hostages are being freed and reunited with their families because of President Trump’s strength and determination. A huge win — his leadership continues to deliver real results at home and abroad to keep America safe and secure “.
Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor in the Texas State Senate after being elected in 2023. His recent posts reflect ongoing engagement with constituents in his district and commentary on national and international issues.
