Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 representing the state’s 11th Senate district, has used his social media platform to comment on recent legislative developments and policy positions.
On August 28, 2025, Middleton posted: “It’s outrageous that Texas Democrats are fighting so hard to let men into women’s private spaces like restrooms, locker rooms and showers. The left is fighting for men pretending to be women and not for actual women.”
The following day, on August 29, 2025, he stated: “Today we fought the woke left’s gender ideology — and won. No more men in women’s private spaces in Texas. Our great state will not bend to the left’s delusions, and with the passage of SB 8 we are ensuring the safety of all the daughters and future daughters of Texas.”
Later that same day, Middleton addressed abortion policy in Texas: “This is a huge pro-life win that will save thousands of babies lives per year, and end the scourge of abortion pills in Texas. I’m fighting to make sure that Texas has the strongest pro-life laws in America to protect the unborn.”
Middleton assumed office after winning election to replace former state senator Larry Taylor. As a member of the Republican Party, he has focused on issues related to gender policies in public spaces and anti-abortion legislation.
