Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 to represent the 11th Senate district, posted a series of statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account addressing recent events involving Charlie Kirk.

On September 12, 2025, Middleton wrote: “Got him, seek the death penalty. Justice for Charlie Kirk.”

Later that same day, he addressed educators’ reactions to the incident: “Educators cheering on Charlie Kirk’s death not only must be fired, they must be added to do not hire registries and lose their certifications. There is zero tolerance for this and their behavior has proven themselves unworthy of ever being part of educating student again.”

Two days later, on September 14, 2025, Middleton posted a tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/UHnfEjsckc”

Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor as state senator after the 2023 election. He represents Texas’s 11th Senate district.
