Mayes Middleton, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 to represent the state’s 11th Senate district, has recently made several statements on social media addressing legislative and political issues.
On August 4, 2025, Middleton called for the passage of Senate Bill 7 and expressed his stance on gender identity policies. In his post, he stated: “Let’s pass SB 7 and end the woke left’s gender identity delusions. I’m fighting to protect the safety of women and children in private spaces! Thank you @FamilyProjectTX for standing in gap, and fighting alongside me to get this done!”
The following day, August 5, 2025, Middleton criticized Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker regarding state governance and raised questions about possible misconduct related to Texas Democratic lawmakers. He wrote: “Illinois has a pathetic, failed Governor in charge of out of control debt and crime. Also did he pay for the texas democrat’s private jet in consideration for them not showing up to work to vote? This warrants a bribery investigation if so!”
Later that same day, Middleton announced what he described as a significant policy achievement concerning nutrition assistance programs in Texas. He posted: “MAHA win for Texas! Thank you @SecRollins and @GregAbbott_TX . This session I authored and passed the bill to kick soda and candy out of the food stamp program, and Secretary Rollins has signed the waiver to put the law into action. Taxpayer funded junk food turns into”
Middleton succeeded Larry Taylor as senator after winning election in 2023.
