Mayes Middleton, a Texas state senator, has recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing issues related to gendered spaces and abortion. On July 25, 2025, Middleton wrote, “Radical liberal Wendy Davis is attacking me because I’m fighting to stop men from entering a girls’ locker room, restroom or any private space. That’s why I’m proud to lead the fight to pass SB 7 to protect women’s privacy and safety in Texas. I’m not bending to the woke left’s”.
Later that day, Middleton commented on the future of a Planned Parenthood facility, stating on July 25, 2025: “Amazing pro life win, unspeakable evil occurred in this building. Let’s demolish this planned parenthood and dedicate the land to a memorial garden for the innocent babies killed there.”
On July 26, 2025, Middleton endorsed another user’s statement by posting: “Well said @FranRhodesTX1 !”
Middleton’s advocacy for SB 7 comes amid ongoing debates in Texas over access to gendered public facilities and transgender rights. The bill he references seeks to restrict access to certain public spaces based on biological sex as listed on original birth certificates.
His comments regarding Planned Parenthood reflect continuing political divisions over abortion access in Texas. In recent years, the state has enacted some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country.
Middleton’s posts highlight his alignment with conservative positions on both gender identity and abortion policy.
