Mayes Middleton, a Republican and Texas State Senator for the 11th district, recently made several statements on social media addressing issues of religious accommodation and political endorsements during the ongoing Attorney General runoff.
On May 4, 2026, Middleton posted, “No Muslim only water parks in Texas. Agree with @realmitchlittle this is unconstitutional just as DEI is unconstitutional.” This tweet addresses his stance against exclusive accommodations based on religion in public spaces and equates such practices with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
Middleton followed up on May 5, 2026, expressing gratitude for support from state leadership: “I’m incredibly honored to earn the endorsement of Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, the most conservative and effective Lt. Gov. in the nation. Patrick’s endorsement underscores our growing momentum in the final weeks of the runoff. As Attorney General, I will partner with Lt. Gov.” The same message was reiterated in a subsequent post on May 6, 2026: “I’m incredibly honored to earn the endorsement of Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, the most conservative and effective Lt. Gov. in the nation.
Patrick’s endorsement underscores our growing momentum in the final weeks of the runoff. As Attorney General, I will partner with Lt. Gov.”
Middleton has served as a member of the Texas Senate since his election in 2023 to represent District 11 after succeeding Larry Taylor.
